Blake Snell and Bob Melvin Will Have a Small Slice of Baseball History with San Francisco Giants

On Monday night, the nightmarish offseason for pitcher Blake Snell finally ended as he signed a two-year deal with the San Francisco Giants.

The reigning National League Cy Young winner will reconvene with his old manager Bob Melvin, who he just had last year in San Diego. When they do, they'll have a small slice of baseball history under their belt as well, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

It's unclear exactly when Snell could be ready for game action in San Francisco and he likely will require some minor league starts to get prepared, but when he joins the Giants, he will go a long way towards making them contenders in the National League West.

Snell went 14-9 last year with a 2.25 ERA to win the Cy Young, which was the second of his career. He struck out a whopping 234 batters in 180.0 innings.

Lifetime, he's 71-55 with a 3.20 ERA. He's played in eight major league seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays and Giants. He helped the Rays get to the 2020 World Series and also won the Cy Young in 2018, going 21-5 with a 1.89 ERA.
