White Sox to Recall Lenyn Sosa with Tim Anderson Suspended
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox will be without shortstop Tim Anderson for the next five games as he serves a suspension for his actions in the Aug. 5 brawl against the Cleveland Guardians. In need of middle infield depth, the Sox will recall Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

It won't be a straight-up swap, however, as the Sox must play a man down during Anderson's suspension. Chicago is expected to make a corresponding move to make room for Sosa prior to Friday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies.

Sosa appeared in 22 games for the White Sox earlier this season. He slashed .132/.145/.221 with one home run, three doubles, and three RBIs across 70 plate appearances during that span.

The 23-year-old was sent down to Triple-A Charlotte in mid-May and has spent most of his season there. In 71 games for the Knights, Sosa is slashing .271/.313/.507 with 17 home runs and 44 RBIs.

It will be interesting to see the White Sox' corresponding roster move to open up a roster spot for Sosa. Among the current infield group, Zach Remillard could be sent down to Charlotte. Elvis Andrus is on an expiring contract, making him a potential DFA candidate.

Whatever it may be, expect some roster reconfiguration from the South Siders prior to Friday's game in Colorado.
