Watch: Taylor Lewan has priceless reaction to Mike Vrabel’s firing live on air

It’s no secret that former Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan is a fan of Mike Vrabel, who was his head coach for the last five seasons of his nine-year career.

This explains Lewan’s shell-shocked reaction as he found out during a live interview on “The Rich Eisen Show” Tuesday that Vrabel had been fired after six seasons with the team.

“That is nuts,” Lewan said. “…Damn, Rich, I can’t believe this is happening right now as we’re talking. … I love Amy (Adams Strunk), and I love that franchise, but I think they just made a mistake. I think they made a big mistake.”

The full video is below.

Lewan noted his belief that the Titans' issues this season — poor play from the offensive line, Jeffery Simmons missing five games, both Ryan Tannehill and Will Levis getting injured, and only seven touchdown receptions from players not named DeAndre Hopkins — were not Vrabel’s fault.

Despite beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-20 in the regular-season finale (and keeping Jacksonville out of the playoffs), the Titans were 13-21 over the last two years.

Vrabel, who’s expected to be the hottest name on the coaching market, won 54 games in six years with the Titans, leading them to four consecutive winning seasons, three playoff appearances, two AFC South titles and an appearance in the 2019 AFC Championship game.
