Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Australian wonderkid Thomas Waddingham, joining a host of Premier League clubs in the race to secure his signature.

The club has strategically invested a good amount on signing talented youngsters in the last few years.

In the span of the last couple of transfer windows, Spurs bolstered their squad by bringing in promising talents such as Ashley Phillips, Alejo Veliz, and Lucas Bergvall.

Recent reports suggest that the Lilywhites are on course to secure another youngster.

Ange advocating for Waddingham as Tottenham lead the race

According to reports from Football Insider, Tottenham are leading the race to sign the 19-year-old Australian striker, who has garnered attention from other Premier clubs as well as clubs across Europe, including Bayern Munich.

Waddingham, currently contracted with Brisbane Roar until the summer, has emerged as a standout performer in the A-League Men, notching six goals in 22 appearances this season.

The left-footed centre-forward has also made a mark on the international stage, representing the Australia U20 team and scoring two goals in two appearances last October.

The report suggests that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been instrumental in advocating for Waddingham’s signing, leveraging his extensive experience and network in Australian football.

With first-hand knowledge of the A-League gained from managing various clubs, including Brisbane Roar, Postecoglou has identified Waddingham as a talent worthy of Spurs’ attention.

It is said that Postecoglou has been alerted to Waddingham’s talent through various connections in Australia, which has piqued Tottenham’s interest in the young forward and will be looking to urge the Tottenham hierarchy to sanction the move.

As Waddingham’s contract expiration approaches, clubs are intensifying their efforts to secure his services, with Tottenham positioning itself as a frontrunner in the pursuit of the promising young striker.
